On June 4th, 2026, the local poet and writer Michael Bauer sadly passed away. He was known for his work in the Palatian dialect. In 1991 he created a literary memorial for the Cathedral in Speyer. His poem "do de dom" is made of somewhat minimalistic nonsense lyrics which don't work in the translation. At the time of the publication, it was not well received by everybody, especially the traditionalistic palatians. Anyway, it has become a classic now:
