Directly next to the resurrection church is the Russenweiher, the "Russian Lake", a small recreational area for the people in the south of Speyer. The northern side has some architectonically interesting houses.
The recreational aspect won't last much longer. There are plans to build houses around the lake, on the western side across from the church of resurrection there are already houses standing, and in future the whole lakeside will be built up.
